Terms of Service
Last updated 28 September 2026
Budget Bear is run by the Budget Bear operator, an individual based in Indonesia ("we", "us"). By creating an account you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Budget Bear.
1. What Budget Bear does
Budget Bear reads transaction emails from the Gmail accounts you connect (read-only), turns them into transactions, and writes them into a Google Sheet created in your own Google Drive. It also offers budgeting, goals, and reports. Budget Bear is a personal budgeting tool. It is not a bank, does not hold your money, and does not give financial, tax, or investment advice.
2. Your account
You sign in with Google and must be at least 18 years old. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for the Google accounts you connect. Only connect Gmail accounts you own or are allowed to use. If you invite household members, you decide what they can see, and you are responsible for inviting only people you trust.
3. Your data stays yours
Your spreadsheet lives in your Google Drive and belongs to you. How we handle your data is explained in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms. You can disconnect Gmail, revoke access in your Google Account, or delete your Budget Bear account at any time from the Account page; your Google Sheet stays with you.
4. Accuracy
We work hard to read receipts correctly, but automatic reading can make mistakes: a missed email, a wrong amount, or a wrong category. Always check important numbers against your bank statements. Budget Bear is not liable for decisions made on numbers it reads or calculates.
5. Plans and payment
The Free plan costs nothing. Paid plans (Pro and Business) add higher limits and features shown on the Plan & billing page. Card payments are processed by Polar (polar.sh), which acts as the merchant of record and handles sales tax; Polar's own terms apply to that payment. In Indonesia you may also pay by bank transfer: the plan starts once we confirm your transfer and lasts for the months you paid for. Prices can change; a change never affects a period you have already paid for.
6. Renewal, cancellation and refunds
Card subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them in the billing portal; you keep the plan until the end of the paid period. Bank-transfer plans do not renew automatically. We remind you before they end, and after a short grace period the account returns to the Free plan. Nothing is deleted when you downgrade. If something went wrong with a payment, contact us within 14 days and we will make it right, including a refund where appropriate.
7. Fair use
Do not misuse Budget Bear: no attempts to break or overload the service, access other people's data, resell the service, or use it for anything illegal. Plan limits (connected Gmail accounts, sheets, and transactions read per month) apply as shown in the app. We may suspend accounts that put the service or other users at risk.
8. Referral program
Referral rewards follow the separate Referral terms. We may withhold rewards obtained through self-referrals or abuse.
9. Availability and changes
We aim to keep Budget Bear running smoothly but cannot promise it will always be available or error-free, for example when Google services are down. We may change or stop features; for important changes to these terms we will notify you by email or in the app before they take effect.
10. Liability
Budget Bear is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia. We will always try to resolve a problem with you directly first.
